Knitted and woven components and articles of footwear containing the same

An article of footwear comprising:

• an upper comprising a textile, wherein the textile is a first component of a composite element defining the article of footwear, wherein the textile includes a single layer having an initial thickness at a non-fused region, a first fused region forming a heel counter with a first thickness that is less than the initial thickness, and a second fused region forming an indicia with a second thickness that is less than each of the initial thickness and the first thickness, wherein the non-fused region is disposed laterally between the first fused region and the second fused region;
• a midsole comprising a compressible foam, wherein the compressible foam is a second component of the composite element that is coupled to the first component;
• an outsole coupled to the compressible foam of the midsole;
• and
• wherein the textile, the compressible foam, and the outsole comprise a thermoplastic polymer material such that a majority of the article of footwear comprises the thermoplastic polymer material, and at least a portion of the thermoplastic polymer material is extracted from another article of footwear that is recycled.

An article of footwear, comprising:

• a composite element including:
• an upper defining a first component of the composite element;
• a midsole defining a second component of the composite element;
• and
• an outsole defining a third component of the composite element;
• wherein the first component includes a textile of a single layer having a non-fused region with an initial thickness, a first fused region that is positioned rear to the non-fused region and fused inwards into the textile to define a first thickness that is relatively smaller than the initial thickness of the textile, and a second fused region that is positioned forward to the non-fused region and fused inwards into the textile to define a second thickness of the textile that is relatively smaller than the first thickness of the textile at the first fused region and the initial thickness of the textile;
• wherein the first component is thermally coupled to the second component and the third component is thermally coupled to the second component;
• and
• wherein a majority of the composite element is formed of a thermoplastic polymer material, and at least one of the first component, the second component, or the third component is formed from recycled thermoplastic polymer material that is extracted from another article of footwear.

An article of footwear comprising:

• an upper comprising a textile, wherein the textile includes a single layer that is formed at least partially from a thermoplastic polymer material and a recycled thermoplastic polymer material extracted from another article of footwear, the textile includes a non-fused region having an initial thickness depth of the single layer, a first fused region having a first thickness depth that is less than the initial thickness depth, and a second fused region having a second thickness depth that varies relative to the initial thickness depth of the single layer and the first thickness depth of the first fused region;
• a midsole comprising a compressible foam, wherein the compressible foam is formed at least partially from the thermoplastic polymer material and the recycled thermoplastic polymer material extracted from the other article of footwear;
• and
• an outsole coupled to the midsole opposite of the upper, wherein the outsole is formed at least partially from the thermoplastic polymer material and the recycled thermoplastic polymer material extracted from the other article of footwear;
• and
• wherein a majority of the article of footwear comprises the thermoplastic polymer material and the recycled thermoplastic polymer material, and the thermoplastic polymer material and the recycled thermoplastic polymer material is a same material such that a percentage of a combined mass of the upper, the midsole, and the outsole, formed of the single material equals at least ninety percent.
