Position indicator

A position indicator of an electromagnetic induction type comprising;

• a first housing having a side circumferential surface with an opening portion for an operation portion that, in operation, presses a side switch;
• a position indicator cartridge that is provided in the first housing, wherein the position indicator cartridge includes a first resonant circuit including a first coil wound around a magnetic core arranged on one end of the position indicator cartridge in an axial direction of the position indicator cartridge and a first capacitor;
• a second coil that is independent of the position indicator cartridge and provided outside of the position indicator cartridge at a position where the second coil, in operation, is magnetically coupled to the first coil of the position indicator cartridge;
• and
• a circuit board that is provided on an inner surface of the first housing at a position covering a range of the opening portion,
• wherein two end portions of the second coil extend to the circuit board.
