Abstract
A magnesiumdiboride (MgB2) powder-in-tube (PIT) wire has a cross-section showing —voids, —magnesiumdiboride, and —oxides, as measured by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Oxides are located at the borders between the voids and the magnesiumdiboride. The MgB2 PIT wire has a higher degree of superconductivity.

A magnesiumdiboride powder-in-tube wire having a cross-section comprising
- voids,
- magnesiumdiboride, and
- oxides,
- wherein the oxides are located at borders between voids and the magnesiumdiboride, and
- wherein the amount of the oxygen is less than 3 wt % when measured over a cross-section with the voids not included.
