Techniques for automated beam adjustment for portal directionality

A method comprising:

• transmitting, by a transceiver configured to emit a plurality of signal beams that each have a respective coverage area and are oriented in a respective direction, a first signal beam of the plurality of signal beams to a set of tags located within a first respective coverage area of the first signal beam while the first signal beam is oriented in a first direction;
• determining, by a beam adjustment algorithm, that a first tag threshold is violated based on a number of first tags located within the first respective coverage area;
• and
• adjusting, by the beam adjustment algorithm, an orientation of the first signal beam from the first direction to a second direction, wherein
• the first tags correspond to stray tags, a second number of dynamic tags are also located within the first respective coverage area while the first signal beam is oriented in the first direction, and the first tag threshold corresponds to a ratio of stray tags to dynamic tags.

A tangible machine-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause a machine to at least:

• transmit, by a transceiver configured to emit a plurality of signal beams that each have a respective coverage area and are oriented in a respective direction, a first signal beam of the plurality of signal beams to a set of tags located within a first respective coverage area of the first signal beam while the first signal beam is oriented in a first direction;
• determine, by a beam adjustment algorithm, that a first tag threshold is violated based on a number of first tags located within the first respective coverage area;
• and
• adjust, by the beam adjustment algorithm, an orientation of the first signal beam from the first direction to a second direction, wherein
• the first tags correspond to stray tags, a second number of dynamic tags are also located within the first respective coverage area while the first signal beam is oriented in the first direction, and the first tag threshold corresponds to a ratio of stray tags to dynamic tags.
