Core layer having wood elements, in particular wood elements having a corrugated structure

A method of producing a corrugated wood element, comprising:

• providing a plate-like wood element including glued-together wood fibers, wherein the wood fibers are glued-together prior to heating with a glue based on glutin, casein, urea-formaldehyde, phenol-formaldehyde, resorcinol-formaldehyde, polyvinyl acetate, and/or polyurethane, wherein the plate-like wood element has glue in an interior of the plate-like wood element, and wherein the provided plate-like wood element is not composed of different layers or plies of wood held together by way of an adhesive or glue;
• heating the plate-like wood element at a temperature range of between 260° C. to about 380° C. for a duration in the range of about 0.01 seconds to about 50 seconds;
• deforming the plate-like wood element between a pair of rollers to form undulations;
• and
• cooling the plate-like wood element such that the corrugated wood element is formed, wherein the corrugated wood element has a thickness in a range of from 0.2 millimeters (mm) to 3 mm and a height of the corrugated wood element is in a range of from 0.8 mm to 8 mm, and wherein wood fibers of the corrugated wood element have a length that is at least twice as long as the thickness of the corrugated wood element, wherein the corrugated wood element comprises plate-like regions arranged in a zig-zag-shaped fashion, wherein a zig region of the corrugated wood element with an adjoining zag region of the corrugated wood element form a common edge between them in such a way that the corrugated wood element is of zig-zag shaped form, and wherein:
• (a) the plate-like regions of the corrugated wood element are planar surfaces and the common edge formed between the planar surfaces is a planar surface;
• or
• (b) the plate-like regions of the corrugated wood element are surfaces of curved form, and the common edge formed between the curved surfaces is a surface of curved form;
• or
• (c) the plate-like regions of the corrugated wood element are surfaces of curved form, and the common edge formed between the curved surfaces is rectilinear;
• or
• (d) the plate-like regions of the corrugated wood element are surfaces of curved form, and the common edge formed between the curved surfaces is a surface of planar form.

A method of producing a corrugated wood element, comprising:

• providing a plate-like wood element assembled from glued-together wood fibers, residues, strands or chips, wherein the plate-like wood element is assembled prior to heating with a glue based on at least one of glutin, casein, urea-formaldehyde, phenol-formaldehyde, resorcinol-formaldehyde, polyvinyl acetate and polyurethane;
• heating the plate-like wood element to a temperature of between 260° C. to about 380° C. for a duration in the range of about 0.01 seconds to about 10 seconds;
• deforming the plate-like wood element to form undulations by passing the plate-like wood element between a pair of rollers, and wherein at least one of the pair of rollers is heated such that the heating and deforming take place simultaneously;
• and
• cooling the plate-like wood element such that the corrugated wood element is formed, wherein the corrugated wood element comprises plate-like regions arranged in a zig-zag-shaped fashion, wherein a zig region of the corrugated wood element with an adjoining zag region of the corrugated wood element form a common edge between them in such a way that the corrugated wood element is of zig-zag shaped form, wherein:
• (a) the plate-like regions of the corrugated wood element are planar surfaces and the common edge formed between the planar surfaces is a planar surface;
• or
• (b) the plate-like regions of the corrugated wood element are surfaces of curved form, and the common edge formed between the curved surfaces is a surface of curved form;
• or
• (c) the plate-like regions of the corrugated wood element are surfaces of curved form, and the common edge formed between the curved surfaces is rectilinear;
• or
• (d) the plate-like regions of the corrugated wood element are surfaces of curved form, and the common edge formed between the curved surfaces is a surface of planar form.
