Abstract
An easy to use and store environmentally friendly binding agent for cellulose-containing materials, particularly suitable for use in the production of wood composites, and composite material product obtained by the use of this binding agent is disclosed.
Claims28
A binding agent for a cellulose-containing material comprising:
- a protein component based on animal blood in an amount from 5% to 25% by weight of the binding agent,
- a polyhydric alcohol comprising from 2 to 6 —OH groups in an amount from 5% to 45% by weight of the binding agent,
- a defoaming agent in an amount from 0.1% to 5% by weight of the binding agent, and
- water up to 100% by weight of the binding agent,
- wherein said binding agent does not comprise an ammonium salt and does not comprise formaldehyde.
