Abstract
Processes for activating a high-chlorine content aromatization catalyst in a reactor system include the steps of contacting the aromatization catalyst with an inert gas stream in the reactor system at a drying temperature of 300-400° C. to form a treated catalyst, and then contacting the treated catalyst with a reducing gas stream in the reactor system to form an activated catalyst. Subsequently, a hydrocarbon feed can be contacted with the activated catalyst under reforming conditions in the reactor system to produce an aromatic product.
Claims11
A reforming process comprising:
- (i) contacting a supported aromatization catalyst with an inert gas stream in a reactor system at a drying temperature in a range from 300° C. to 400° C. to form a treated catalyst, the supported aromatization catalyst comprising;
- a bound zeolite base;
- from 0.3 wt. % to 3 wt. % of platinum;
- from 1.8 wt. % to 4 wt. % of chlorine;
- and
- from 0.4 wt. % to 1.5 wt. % of fluorine;
- (ii) contacting the treated catalyst with a reducing gas stream in the reactor system to form an activated catalyst;
- and
- (iii) contacting a hydrocarbon feed with the activated catalyst under reforming conditions in the reactor system to produce an aromatic product.
