System and method for forming protective sports equipment for a customer

A protective sports helmet to be worn by a player while participating in a sports activity, the protective sports helmet comprising:

• a helmet shell configured to receive a head of a player participating in a sports activity;
• and
• an energy attenuation assembly positioned within the helmet shell, wherein the energy attenuation assembly includes:
• an outer layer that is elastically deformable and positioned adjacent to an inner surface of the helmet shell;
• an inner layer having a three-dimensional (3D) printed segment that is coupled to an extent of the outer layer, said 3D printed segment being formed using data of a player's head obtained from an electronic device;
• and
• a comfort layer that:
• (i) is coupled to the 3D printed segment of the inner layer, (ii) includes foam, and (iii) is configured to be positioned between said 3D printed segment of the inner layer and the player's head, when the helmet is worn by the player.
