Automatic fact extraction

A system comprising:

• a memory coupled to a processor;
• and
• an analyzer service that executes on the processor, uses the memory, and is configured for:
• tokenizing text in unstructured information to generate a token list;
• applying, to the token list, a plurality of domain entity rules to identify a selected domain for the text, wherein the selected domain corresponds to a physical object mentioned in the unstructured information;
• applying, to the token list, a plurality of parent entity rules defined for the selected domain to identify a parent entity from a plurality of parent entities, wherein the plurality of parent entities identify a plurality of specific instances of the physical object;
• applying, to the token list, a plurality of related entity rules that are defined for a related entity linked to an identified instance of the plurality of specific instances identified by the parent entity, wherein the plurality of related entity rules identify at least one of an attribute, a property, or a characteristic of a specific instance of the plurality of specific instances of the physical object;
• adding the related entity as an extracted fact of the parent entity to a fact list;
• and
• transmitting the extracted fact as structured information to a repository.

A computer program product comprising computer readable program code for causing a computer system to perform a method, the method comprising:

• tokenizing text in unstructured information to generate a token list;
• applying, to the token list, a plurality of domain entity rules to identify a selected domain for the text, wherein the selected domain corresponds to a physical object mentioned in the unstructured information;
• applying, to the token list, a plurality of parent entity rules defined for the selected domain to identify a parent entity from a plurality of parent entities, wherein the plurality of parent entities identify a plurality of specific instances of the physical object;
• applying, to the token list, a plurality of related entity rules that are defined for a related entity linked to an identified instance of the plurality of specific instances identified by the parent entity, wherein the plurality of related entity rules identify at least one of an attribute, a property, or a characteristic of a specific instance of the plurality of specific instances of the physical object;
• adding the related entity as an extracted fact of the parent entity to a fact list;
• and
• transmitting the extracted fact as structured information to a repository.
