Abstract
A user interface for a vehicle presents visible information and acquires user input. The user interface includes a two-dimensional display and an optical faceplate. The two-dimensional display displays information on a display portion. The optical faceplate includes a contact surface, a three-dimensional display surface, and an optic light guide material provided between the contact surface and the three-dimensional display surface. The two-dimensional display includes a pixel arrangement. The contact surface contacts the two-dimensional display to transmit information from the pixel arrangement to the three-dimensional display surface. The three-dimensional display surface is touch sensitive. The optical faceplate is arrangeable within a cabin of the vehicle.
Claims17
A user interface for a vehicle configured to present visible information and to acquire user input, the user interface comprising:
- a two-dimensional display configured to display information on a display portion;
- an optical faceplate comprising a contact surface, a three-dimensional display surface, and an optic light guide material provided between the contact surface and the three-dimensional display surface;
- wherein
- the two-dimensional display comprises a pixel arrangement;
- the contact surface contacts the two-dimensional display to transmit information from the pixel arrangement to the three-dimensional display surface;
- the three-dimensional display surface is touch sensitive;
- and
- the optical faceplate is arrangeable within a cabin of the vehicle.
A steering wheel for a vehicle, comprising two steering wheel controllers, wherein each of the steering wheel controllers comprises:
- an optical faceplate comprising a contact surface, a three-dimensional display surface, and an optic light guide material provided between the contact surface and the three-dimensional display surface;
- wherein
- the contact surface contacts a surface to transmit information from a pixel arrangement on a display surface to the three-dimensional display surface, and
- the three-dimensional display surface is touch sensitive.
