Abstract
An apparatus for filtering amniotic fluid containing particulate matter and amniotic cells is disclosed, comprising a filter for filtering the particulate matter from the amniotic fluid, a chamber enclosing the filter, wherein the chamber comprises a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and an inlet connector arranged to form a sealing connection between the fluid inlet and an amniotic fluid sample source, wherein, in use, the amniotic fluid pass the filter when flowing from the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet, whereby particulate matter is deposited on the filter and the amniotic fluid flows through the fluid outlet containing amniotic cells.
Claims20
An apparatus for filtering amniotic fluid containing particulate matter and amniotic cells, the apparatus being formed of a pliable material and comprises
- a filter for filtering the particulate matter from the amniotic fluid,
- an expandable chamber enclosing the filter, wherein the filter is sealed within the chamber,
- wherein the chamber comprises a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and
- an inlet connector arranged to form a sealing connection between the fluid inlet and an amniotic fluid sample source, wherein, in use, the amniotic fluid is transported into the chamber to expand the chamber and pass the filter when flowing from the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet, whereby particulate matter is deposited on the filter and the amniotic fluid containing amniotic cells flows through the fluid outlet;
- wherein the filter comprises a mesh having a mesh size in the range of 100-500 μm.
An apparatus for filtering amniotic fluid containing particulate matter and amniotic cells, comprising
- a filter for filtering the particulate matter from the amniotic fluid,
- a chamber enclosing the filter,
- wherein the chamber comprises a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and
- an inlet connector arranged to form a sealing connection between the fluid inlet and an amniotic fluid sample source, wherein, in use, the amniotic fluid pass the filter when flowing from the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet, whereby particulate matter is deposited on the filter and the amniotic fluid containing amniotic cells flows through the fluid outlet;
- wherein the filter is isolated by the chamber from the environment surrounding the chamber such that there is no fluid communication between the amniotic fluid in the chamber and the environment.
