Abstract
A textile-based hydrogel electrode comprises a textile-based backing layer, a conductive structure coupled to the textile-based backing layer, and a hydrogel body in contact with at least a first portion of the conductive structure, wherein the first portion of the conductive structure and the hydrogel body form an ionic interface configured to generate an electrical signal through the conductive structure corresponding to a biopotential change proximate to the textile-based hydrogel electrode.
Claims18
A method of manufacturing a textile-based hydrogel electrode, the method comprising the steps of:
- coupling a conductive structure to a textile-based backing layer;
- depositing a hydrogel material onto the conductive structure to form a hydrogel body that is in contact with a specified portion of the conductive structure;
- and
- applying a stabilizing coating to at least a portion of the hydrogel body;
- wherein the specified portion of the conductive structure comprises a first material that ionically interacts with the hydrogel material to form an ionic interface between the hydrogel body and the conductive structure, and wherein the ionic interface is configured to generate an electrical signal through the conductive structure corresponding to a biopotential change proximate to the ionic interface.
A method of manufacturing a textile-based hydrogel electrode, the method comprising the steps of:
- coupling a conductive structure to a textile-based backing layer, wherein the textile-based backing layer comprises cotton;
- depositing a hydrogel material onto the conductive structure to form a hydrogel body that is in contact with a specified portion of the conductive structure,
- wherein the specified portion of the conductive structure comprises a first material that ionically interacts with the hydrogel material to form an ionic interface between the hydrogel body and the conductive structure, and wherein the ionic interface is configured to generate an electrical signal through the conductive structure corresponding to a biopotential change proximate to the ionic interface;
- and
- applying a stabilizing coating to at least a portion of the hydrogel body.
A method of manufacturing a textile-based hydrogel electrode, the method comprising the steps of:
- coupling a conductive structure to a textile-based backing laver;
- depositing a hydrogel material comprising electrically conductive particles dispersed therein onto the conductive structure to form a hydrogel body that is in contact with a specified portion of the conductive structure,
- wherein the specified portion of the conductive structure comprises a first material that ionically interacts with the hydrogel material to form an ionic interface between the hydrogel body and the conductive structure, and wherein the ionic interface is configured to generate an electrical signal through the conductive structure corresponding to a biopotential change proximate to the ionic interface;
- and
- applying a stabilizing coating to at least a portion of the hydrogel body.
