Position monitoring system for agricultural system

A position monitoring system for an agricultural system, comprising:

• a light emitter configured to output a light;
• a sensor array comprising a plurality of sensors, wherein each sensor of the plurality of sensors is configured to receive the light output by the light emitter;
• and
• a control system configured to:
• determine at least one sensor of the plurality of sensors of the sensor array that receives the light output by the light emitter during an operation of the agricultural system, wherein the at least one sensor that receives the light indicates a current orientation of an agricultural implement of the agricultural system relative to a work vehicle of the agricultural system;
• determine at least one target sensor of the plurality of sensors of the sensor array based on the operation of the agricultural system, wherein the at least one target sensor corresponds to a target orientation of the agricultural implement relative to the work vehicle associated with the operation of the agricultural system;
• compare the at least one sensor to the at least one target sensor;
• and
• control the current orientation of the agricultural implement relative to the work vehicle in response to determining that the at least one sensor does not match the at least one target sensor.
