A fire pit has a gas burner and a repellent container. The gas burner provides energy that volatilizes repellent from the repellent container.

A fire pit comprising:
- a gas burner;
- a repellent container;
- a thermoelectric generator;
- and
- a resistive heater;
- wherein the gas burner provides energy that volatilizes repellent from the repellent container;
- wherein the thermoelectric generator generates electric power by exposure to the gas burner;
- and
- wherein the electric power from the thermoelectric generator powers the resistive heater to disperse the repellent.
