Cement bonding evaluation with a sonic-logging-while-drilling tool

A system comprising:

• a logging-while-drilling (LWD) acoustic tool;
• comprising a first set of receivers and a reference receiver;
• a processor;
• and
• a machine-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that are executable by the processor to cause the system to,
• receive, at a first set of receivers, an array of waves detected from an interaction between acoustic waves generated by an acoustic tool and a casing of a wellbore;
• apply filtering to the array of waves received at the first set of receivers to generate an array of pre-processed waveforms based on the received array of waveforms;
• propagate the pre-processed waveforms to a reference receiver with a casing wave slowness;
• stack the pre-processed waveforms received at the reference receiver to sum the waveforms together;
• and
• generate a bonding index based, at least in part, on the stacked waveforms.

A non-transitory, computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that are executable by a computing device to perform operations comprising:

• receive, at a first set of receivers, an array of waves detected from an interaction between acoustic waves generated by an acoustic tool and a casing of a wellbore;
• apply filtering to the array of waves received at the first set of receivers to generate an array of pre-processed waveforms based on the received array of waveforms;
• propagate the pre-processed waveforms to a reference receiver with a casing wave slowness;
• stack the pre-processed waveforms received at the reference receiver to sum the waveforms together;
• and
• generate a bonding index based, at least in part, on the stacked waveforms.
