Abstract
New body supporting and enhancing garment techniques are provided. In some embodiments, new types of bras and other garments are provided, along with new sizing systems for fitting them to person's bodies. For example, a new form of bra having a reversible front fastener and a plurality of back bands provided in an under/over configuration, directly abutting one another, and having no gap, or substantially no gap between them. In other embodiments, shoulder straps are provided with location-variable, reversible attachment ends, having reversible fasteners, which engage with the back of a main body of the bra at a plurality of possible attachment positions.
Claims20
A breast-supporting garment, comprising:
- a main body, comprising a plurality of supports configured to support breasts of a wearer;
- and
- at least two back bands, wherein said at least two back bands comprise:
- a first back band having a first length, at a first vertical level just below, or at least partially just below, said breasts, configured to tighten or expand said breast-supporting garment, and wherein said first band comprises hardware configured to continuously adjust said first length of said first band;
- a second back band having a second length, at a second vertical level, higher than said first vertical level, configured to tighten or expand said breast-supporting garment, and wherein said second back band comprises hardware configured to continuously adjust the second length of said second back band;
- wherein said first back band is attached and vertically fixed to said main body by a first attachment at a first vertical position, said first attachment comprising stitching passing into said first back band and into, and/or an adhesive applied to said main body wherein said first vertical position is different from a second vertical position at which said second back band is attached to said main body by a second attachment, and wherein both the first back band and the second back band are fixed in a first horizontal orientation and a second horizontal orientation by said first attachment and said second attachment, respectively, in which both the first length and the second length are parallel, or substantially parallel, to a length of said main body;
- and
- wherein an upper edge of said first back band and a lower edge of said second back band abut each other.
A breast-supporting garment, comprising:
- a main body, comprising a plurality of supports configured to support breasts of a wearer;
- and
- at least two back bands, wherein said at least two back bands comprise:
- a first back band having a first length, at a first vertical level just below, or at least partially just below, said breasts, configured to tighten or expand said breast-supporting garment, and wherein said first band comprises hardware configured to continuously adjust said first length of said first band;
- a second back band having a second length, at a second vertical level, higher than said first vertical level, configured to tighten or expand said breast-supporting garment, and wherein said second back band comprises hardware configured to continuously adjust the second length of said second back band;
- wherein said first back band is attached to and vertically fixed to said main body by a first attachment at a first vertical position, said first vertical position comprising stitching passing into said first back band and into said main body, wherein said first attachment at said first vertical position is different from a second vertical position at which said second back band is attached to said main body by a second attachment, and wherein both the first back band and the second back band are fixed by stitching or an adhesive in a first horizontal orientation and a second horizontal orientation by said first attachment and said second attachment, respectively, in which both the first length and the second length are parallel, or substantially parallel, to a length of said main body;
- and
- wherein an upper edge of said first back band and a lower edge of said second back band are separated by a structural gap, and wherein said structural gap has a vertical distance of less than the width of said first band and less than the width of said second band.
A method for providing a breast-supporting garment, comprising the following steps:
- providing a breast-supporting garment, comprising:
- a main body, comprising a plurality of supports configured to support breasts of a wearer;
- and
- at least two back bands, wherein said at least two back bands comprise:
- a first back band having a first length, at a first vertical level just below, or at least partially just below, said breasts, configured to tighten or expand said breast-supporting garment, and wherein said first band comprises hardware configured to continuously adjust said first length of said first band;
- a second back band having a second length, at a second vertical level, higher than said first vertical level, configured to tighten or expand said breast-supporting garment, and wherein said second back band comprises hardware configured to continuously adjust the second length of said second back band;
- wherein said first back band is directly attached by stitching passing into said first back band and into said main body at a first attachment at a first vertical position, different from a second vertical position at which said second back band is attached to said main body by a second attachment, and wherein both the first back band and the second back band are fixed in a first horizontal orientation and a second horizontal orientation by said first attachment and said second attachment, respectively, in which both the first length and the second length are parallel, or substantially parallel, to a length of said main body;
- and
- wherein an upper edge of said first back band and a lower edge of said second back band abut each other.
