Abstract
A cement form includes a unitary body portion having a first surface arranged vertically and configured to support a volume of cement, a second surface arranged horizontally and configured to contact a ground support surface, a foam material, and a detachable portion. The cement form may include a connector groove formed in the weight bearing surface and extending along at least a portion of a length of the body portion. The connector groove is configured to receive a connecting member that extends between adjacent positioned cement forms. The detachable portion may be positioned adjacent to the connector groove.

A cement form, comprising a single piece body member having a solid, continuous foam construction, the body member comprising:
- a first surface arranged vertically and configured to support a volume of cement;
- a second surface arranged horizontally and configured to contact a ground support surface;
- a connector groove comprising a first planar face that is parallel to the first surface and a second planar face that is parallel to the first surface, wherein the connector groove is dimensioned to receive a connecting member, which (a) has a width, height, and length, in which the width, height, and length are each perpendicular to each other and the length is greater than the width and the height, (b) is selected from any one of a standard 2″×4″ board, a standard 2″×6″ board, and a standard 2″×8″ board, in which 2″ relates to the width of the connecting member and 4″, 6″, and 8″, respectively, relate to the height of the connecting member, and (c) has a first board plane and a second board plane, both of which are defined by the height and the length of the connecting member, such that each of (i) the first planar face of the connector groove contacts the first board plane, (ii) the second planar face of the connector groove contacts the second board plane, and (iii) each of the first planar face, the first board plane, the second planar face, and the second board plane are approximately parallel to each other;
- a weight bearing surface extending from the first planar face to the second surface, wherein the connector groove is formed in the weight bearing surface;
- a detachable element spaced laterally away from the first surface and the second surface;
- and
- at least one relief slit defining an edge of the detachable element.
A cement form, comprising an elongate foam member, wherein the elongate foam member comprises:
- (1) a single-piece, solid, continuous construction;
- (2) a connector groove comprising a first planar face and a second planar face that are parallel to each other;
- (3) a detachable element;
- (4) at least one relief cut to facilitate disconnection of the detachable element;
- (5) a length measured between opposed first and second ends of the elongate foam member, wherein the first and second ends of the elongate foam member are mirror images of each other;
- (6) a width measured perpendicular to the length of the elongate foam member;
- (7) a height measured between a bottom most edge and an upper most edge of the elongate foam member, wherein the height of the elongate foam member is measured perpendicular to both the length and the width of the elongate foam member, and the height is less than both the length and the width of the elongate foam member,
- and wherein:
- the elongate foam member is configured such that the connector groove is dimensioned to receive a connecting member, which (a) has a width, height, and length, in which the width, height, and length of the connecting member are each perpendicular to each other, (b) is selected from any one of a standard 2″×4″ board, a standard 2″×6″ board, and a standard 2″×8″ board, in which 2″ relates to the width of the connecting member and 4″, 6″, and 8″, respectively, relate to the height of the connecting member, and (c) has a first board plane and a second board plane, both of which are defined by the height and the length of the connecting member, such that (i) the first planar face of the connector groove contacts the first board plane, (ii) the second planar face of the connector groove contacts the second board plane, (iii) each of the first planar face, the first board plane, the second planar face, and the second board plane are approximately parallel to each other, (iv) the length of the elongate foam member is approximately parallel to the length of the connecting member, (v) the height of the elongate foam member is approximately parallel to the height of the connecting member, and (vi) the width of the elongate foam member is approximately parallel to the width of the connecting member;
- (8) a first surface arranged vertically and configured to support a volume of cement;
- (9) a second surface arranged horizontally and configured to contact a ground support surface;
- and
- (10) a weight bearing surface extending from the first planar face to the second surface, wherein the connector groove is formed in the weight bearing surface.
A cement form assembly, comprising two cement forms configured to be arranged end-to-end, each cement form comprising:
- a rigid foam material;
- a first surface arranged vertically and configured to support a volume of cement of a building foundation;
- a second surface arranged horizontally and configured to contact a ground support surface;
- a connector groove comprising a first planar face and a second planar face that are parallel to each other,
- wherein:
- the first planar face, the second planar face, and the first surface are parallel;
- the second surface is perpendicular to each of the first surface, the first planar face, and the second planar face;
- and
- the connector groove is dimensioned to receive a connecting member, which (a) has a width, height, and length, in which the width, height, and length of the connecting member are each perpendicular to each other, (b) is selected from any one of a standard 2″×4″ board, a standard 2″×6″ board, and a standard 2″×8″ board, in which 2″ relates to the width of the connecting member and 4″, 6″, and 8″, respectively, relate to the height of the connecting member, and (c) has a first board plane and a second board plane, both of which are defined by the height and the length of the connecting member, such that (i) the first planar face of the connector groove contacts the first board plane, (ii) the second planar face of the connector groove contacts the second board plane, (iii) each of the first planar face, the first board plane, the second planar face, and the second board plane are approximately parallel to each other, and (iv) when both of the two cement forms are arranged end-to-end, then the connector groove of each cement form is configured to receive the same connecting member;
