Abstract
Methods and systems are disclosed for enabling the generation of a token corresponding to a tone generated by a telephony system, comprising receiving one or more dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) tones generated by a telephony system, generating a token based on the one or more DTMF tones; and transmitting the generated token to a merchant system.

A method comprising:
- determining transmission of sensitive data from a user device to a merchant system;
- automatically triggering suppression of a dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) tone at the merchant system upon detecting a predefined number of keystrokes;
- prompting a masking or truncating of a character display corresponding to the DTMF tone at the merchant system;
- generating one or more tokens based on the DTMF tone;
- and
- transmitting the one or more tokens to the merchant system.
