Abstract
An exit device according to one embodiment includes a plurality of sensors and an electronic dogging mechanism. The exit device is configured to locally analyze sensor data to determine the security state of the exit device, report data to a management system via a wireless communication channel established between the exit device and the management system, and receive and process instructions to perform an electronic dogging operation.
Claims22
A dogging mechanism for an exit device comprising a link bar, the dogging mechanism comprising:
- a hook operable to engage the link bar, wherein the hook is configured to be driven between an actuated hook position and a deactuated hook position by engagement with the link bar as the link bar moves between an actuated link bar position and a deactuated link bar position;
- a trigger operable to engage the hook, the trigger having an actuated trigger position in which the trigger is operable to retain the hook in the actuated hook position to thereby retain the link bar in the actuated link bar position, the trigger having a deactuated trigger position in which the trigger permits movement of the hook between the actuated hook position and the deactuated hook position to thereby permit movement of the link bar between the deactuated link bar position and the actuated link bar position;
- and
- an actuator operable to selectively move the trigger from the deactuated trigger position toward the actuated trigger position.
An exit device, comprising:
- a hook mounted for movement between an actuated hook position and a deactuated hook position;
- a drive assembly comprising a link bar, the drive assembly having an actuated state in which the link bar is in an actuated link bar position, and the drive assembly having a deactuated state in which the link bar is in a deactuated link bar position, wherein the link bar is configured to drive the hook from the actuated hook position toward the deactuated hook position as the link bar moves from the actuated link bar position toward the deactuated link bar position;
- a trigger operable to engage the hook, the trigger having an actuated trigger position in which the trigger is operable to retain the hook in the actuated hook position to thereby retain the link bar in the actuated link bar position, the trigger having a deactuated trigger position in which the trigger permits movement of the hook between the actuated hook position and the deactuated hook position to thereby permit movement of the link bar between the deactuated link bar position and the actuated link bar position;
- and
- an actuator operable to selectively move the trigger from the deactuated trigger position toward the actuated trigger position.
A dogging mechanism for an exit device, the dogging mechanism comprising:
- a hook mounted for pivotal movement about a first pivot axis between a deactuated hook position corresponding to a deactuated state of the exit device and an actuated hook position corresponding to an actuated state of the exit device;
- a trigger mounted for pivotal movement about a second pivot axis between a deactuated trigger position and an actuated trigger position, wherein the first pivot axis and the second pivot axis are offset from one another, wherein the trigger in the actuated trigger position is operable to retain the hook in the actuated hook position, and wherein the trigger in the deactuated trigger position is configured to permit movement of the hook between the actuated hook position and the deactuated hook position;
- and
- an over-center spring mechanism engaged with the trigger and configured to selectively bias the trigger toward each of the actuated trigger position and the deactuated trigger position.
