Abstract
A compressible gasket is provided that includes a compressible core having opposing first and second sides. The opposing first and second sides are covered, at least partially, with adhesive material. The compressible gasket can prevent leakage of contents from a pouch by being disposed between, and adhered to, a mating flange on a male piercer and a mating surface on a pouch.
Claims12
A system comprising:
- a pouch holding a liquid product;
- a compressible gasket including a compressible core having opposing first and second sides, wherein both the first side and the second side are covered at least in part with an adhesive;
- and
- a male piercer attached to the pouch, wherein the compressible gasket is disposed between a mating flange of the male piercer and a mating surface associated with the pouch.

A system comprising:
- a pouch configured to be employed in a bag-in-box package used in a beverage dispenser, the pouch being configured to hold a liquid product, the pouch further including a mating surface;
- and
- a compressible gasket including:
- a compressible core having opposing first and second sides;
- and
- adhesive material covering at least a portion of the first and second sides, wherein the second side of the compressible gasket is secured to the mating surface by the adhesive material and the first side is configured to mate with a mating flange on a male piercer.
