Abstract
An introducer sheath is described. The introducer sheath may include a tubular body. The tubular body may extend from a distal end toward a proximal end. The tubular body may include a lumen. The lumen may at least partially be defined by a wall. A channel may be disposed within the wall. The channel may be configured to receive a guidewire. The tubular body may include an expandable portion expandable to increase a cross-sectional area of the lumen.
Claims24
A medical device comprising:
- a valve;
- and
- an elongate member distal a hub portion and forming a lumen extending to a distal end of the elongate member, the elongate member comprising:
- a plurality of elastic portions forming a surface of the lumen, wherein deformation of the plurality of elastic portions changes a shape of the surface of the lumen and an outer surface of the elongate member;
- and
- a plurality of sheath portions that are stiffer than the plurality of elastic portions, the plurality of elastic portions and the plurality of sheath portions being disposed in alternating fashion circumferentially around the elongate member,
- wherein the plurality of elastic portions and the plurality of sheath portions extend into a distal end of the hub portion.
4 more elements
A medical device comprising:
- a lumen extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the lumen comprising a first lumen portion containing a valve and a second lumen portion extending distally from the valve, at least a portion of the second lumen being formed from:
- a plurality of elastic portions forming a surface of the lumen, wherein deformation of the plurality of elastic portions changes a shape of the surface of the lumen;
- and
- a plurality of sheath portions that are stiffer than the plurality of elastic portions, the plurality of elastic portions and the plurality of sheath portions being disposed in alternating fashion circumferentially around the lumen,
- wherein the plurality of elastic portions and the plurality of sheath portions extend into a tapered distal end of the first lumen portion.
2 more elements
A method comprising:
- deploying a first medical device into a body lumen, the first medical device comprising:
- a device receiving hub portion with a port and a valve;
- and
- an elongate member extending from the hub portion and forming a lumen extending to a distal end of the elongate member, the elongate member comprising:
- a plurality of elastic portions forming a surface of the lumen, wherein deformation of the plurality of elastic portions changes a shape of the surface of the lumen and an outer surface of the elongate member;
- and
- a plurality of sheath portions that are stiffer than the plurality of elastic portions, the plurality of elastic portions and the plurality of sheath portions being disposed in alternating fashion circumferentially around the elongate member,
- wherein the plurality of elastic portions and the plurality of sheath portions extend into a distal end of the hub portion;
- and
- deploying a second medical device through the hub portion and the lumen of the elongate member.
7 more elements
A method comprising:
- deploying a first medical device into a body lumen, the first medical device comprising:
- a lumen extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the lumen comprising a first lumen portion containing a valve and a second lumen portion extending distally from the valve, at least a portion of the second lumen being formed from:
- a plurality of elastic portions forming a surface of the lumen, wherein deformation of the plurality of elastic portions changes a shape of the surface of the lumen;
- and
- a plurality of sheath portions that are stiffer than the plurality of elastic portions, the plurality of elastic portions and the plurality of sheath portions being disposed in alternating fashion circumferentially around the lumen,
- wherein the plurality of elastic portions and the plurality of sheath portions extend into a tapered distal end of the first lumen portion;
- and
- deploying a second medical device through the lumen.
