Abstract
The disclosure describes a system and a method for applying a gradient of external compressive forces on the body of a person, in a manner analogous to how water exerts hydrostatic forces on the body of a person immersed in water. According to an embodiment, the system may be a chair or a suit and is applicable for effecting physiological changes in the body such as increased diuresis and/or amniotic fluid levels, preeclampsia treatment in pregnant women, reduced hypertension, shift in fluids from interstitial space into intravascular compartment, increased venous return from lower extremities, reduced sympathetic tone and total peripheral resistance, reduced work load on the heart, reduced motion sickness, and the like.

A system, comprising:
- a hollow chair shaped supporting frame comprising fluid filled bladders, wherein the hollow chair shaped supporting frame is adapted to support a person and is adapted to encloses at least a portion of the person and comprises one or more movable panels;
- wherein a first side of a subset of the fluid filled bladders is in contact with the hollow chair shaped supporting frame and a second side is adapted to be in contact with the person;
- wherein the fluid filled bladders are adapted to exert a gradient of force on the portion of the person, wherein a fluid in the fluid filled bladders is a liquid, wherein the gradient of force simulates a hydrostatic force exerted on the portion of the person when the person is immersed in water;
- wherein the gradient of force is modified using a combination of moving the one or more movable panels and by a level of the fluid in the fluid filled bladders;
- and
- wherein the fluid filled bladders are adapted to redistribute weight of the person from primary weight bearing regions to a body surface of the person.
A system, comprising:
- a hollow stretcher or a bed shaped supporting frame comprising fluid filled bladders, wherein the hollow stretcher or the bed shaped supporting frame is adapted to support a person in lying position, and is adapted to encloses at least a portion of the person and comprises one or more movable panels;
- wherein a first side of a subset of the fluid filled bladders is in contact with the hollow stretcher or the bed shaped supporting frame and a second side is adapted to be in contact with the person;
- wherein the fluid filled bladders are adapted to exert a gradient of force on the portion of the person, wherein a fluid in the fluid filled bladders is liquid, wherein the gradient of force simulates a hydrostatic force exerted on the portion of the person when the person is immersed in water;
- wherein the gradient of force is modified using a combination of moving the one or more movable panels and by a level of the fluid in the fluid filled bladders;
- and
- wherein the fluid filled bladders are adapted to redistribute weight of the person from primary weight bearing regions to a body surface of the person.
A system, comprising:
- a hollow wearable suit shaped supporting frame comprising fluid filled bladders;
- wherein a first side of a subset of the fluid filled bladders is in contact with the hollow wearable suit shaped supporting frame and a second side is adapted to be in contact with a person;
- wherein the fluid filled bladders are adapted to exert a gradient of force on a portion of the person, wherein a fluid in the fluid filled bladders is a liquid, wherein the gradient of force simulates a hydrostatic force exerted on the portion of the person when the person is immersed in water;
- wherein the gradient of force is modified by a level of the fluid in the fluid filled bladders;
- and
- the fluid filled bladders are adapted to redistribute weight of the person from primary weight bearing regions to a body surface of the person;
- and
- wherein the hollow wearable suit shaped supporting frame is adapted to enclose the portion of the person and is adapted to secured around a body part of the person.
A system, comprising:
- an exercise machine comprising a hollow casing shaped supporting frame comprising fluid filled bladders and adapted to encase at least a portion of a person;
- wherein the hollow casing shaped supporting frame comprises one or more movable panels;
- wherein a first side of a subset of the fluid filled bladders is in contact with the hollow casing shaped supporting frame and a second side is adapted to be in contact with the person;
- wherein the fluid filled bladders are adapted to exert a gradient of force on the portion of the person, wherein a fluid in the fluid filled bladders is a liquid;
- wherein the gradient of force simulates a hydrostatic force exerted on the portion of the person when the person is immersed in water;
- wherein the gradient of force is modified using a combination of moving the one or more movable panels and by a level of the fluid in the fluid filled bladders;
- and
- wherein the fluid filled bladders when holding the fluid are adapted to redistribute weight of the person from primary weight bearing regions to a body surface of the person.
