Surface cleaning apparatus

A surface cleaning apparatus for cleaning a floor surface, comprising:

• a base adapted for movement over a surface to be cleaned and comprising:
• a dirty inlet to a recovery pathway;
• a brushroll adjacent to the dirty inlet, the brushroll configured to agitate the floor surface;
• and
• a fluid distributor configured to deliver cleaning fluid to at least one of the floor surface and the brushroll;
• and
• an upright body pivotally mounted to the base and comprising:
• a frame;
• a handle coupled to the frame;
• a clean air outlet from the recovery pathway, wherein the clean air outlet is an exhaust outlet configured to discharge air from the upright body into the environment outside the surface cleaning apparatus;
• a recovery tank supported on the frame and comprising a tank container defining a collection chamber;
• a supply tank supported on the frame and comprising at least one supply chamber for holding cleaning fluid;
• an enclosure disposed internally to the frame and comprising a motor housing and a fan housing, the recovery pathway extending through a portion of the enclosure;
• and
• a suction source comprising a motor within the motor housing and a fan within the fan housing, the fan configured to produce an exhaust air flow;
• wherein the enclosure comprises a muffler disposed internally to the frame that defines an air exhaust path for the exhaust air flow produced by the fan that extends from the fan housing to the clean air outlet and muffles noise generated by the exhaust air flow.
