Abstract
A system and method for providing a listing service for farmers in rural areas. A farmer may be able to “drop a pin” on an interactive map to a location, such as a barn, to where supplies may be delivered by a delivery driver. By providing such a map, natural barriers to entry into a marketplace may be broken down for suppliers, thereby enabling a marketplace to expand with suppliers.
Claims20
A system for providing directional guidance to a driver of goods to a destination location, said system comprising:
- a data repository configured to store historical positional locations of delivery drivers who previously delivered goods to a destination location, the positional locations being based on geographic coordinates from electronic devices carried by vehicles used to make the deliveries;
- a processing unit configured to:
- receive a destination location;
- access said data repository to identify historical positional locations associated with the destination location;
- communicate at least a portion of the historical positional locations to a mapping application being executed by an electronic device of a delivery driver, at least a portion of the historical positional locations causing the mapping application to display the historical positional locations on a map to provide driving directions for the delivery driver;
- determine that the destination location is beyond a last mappable location of the mapping application;
- and
- in response to determining that the driver passes the last mappable location, automatically command the mapping application to display satellite imagery.
A user interface, comprising:
- an interactive map supported by a mapping app, and configured to enable a user to drop a pin on the interactive map to indicate a location for supplies to be delivered;
- an order interface configured to enable a user to select a supplier of supplies to be delivered to the location represented by the pin;
- an order request manager configured to communicate a request of an order and the location represented by the pin dropped on the interactive map to an order server, the location represented by the pin being at a mappable location or non-mappable location;
- an historical positional locations overlay module in communication with the interactive map, and configured to overlay historical positional locations on the interactive map including superimposing historical paths of deliveries on the interactive map, the mapping app and/or historical positional locations overlay module to automatically display satellite image data on the interactive map when a delivery of the order is being made to the location represented by the pin at a non-mappable location and a delivery driver passes a last mappable location.
A method for providing directional guidance to a driver of goods to a destination location, said method comprising:
- storing historical positional locations of delivery drivers who previously delivered goods to a destination location;
- receiving a destination location;
- identifying historical positional locations associated with the destination location;
- communicating at least a portion of the historical positional locations to a mapping application being executed by an electronic device of a delivery driver, at least a portion of the historical positional locations causing the mapping application to display the historical positional locations on a map to provide driving directions for the delivery driver;
- determining that the destination location is beyond a last mappable location of the mapping application;
- and
- in response to determining that the driver passes the last mappable location, automatically commanding the mapping application to display satellite imagery.
