Abstract
A vehicle control system and method may obtain a route data file for a network of first routes that the vehicle system is headed toward from the off-board component, determine a set of potential routes from the first routes in the network using the route data file, present the set of the potential routes to an operator of the vehicle system, determine whether a selection of a selected route of the potential routes is received from the operator, and automatically change movement of the vehicle system responsive to not receiving the selection of the selected route.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- obtaining route information for a network of first routes that a vehicle system is headed toward from an off-board component of a vehicle control system that sends directive signals to the vehicle system to notify the vehicle system where the vehicle system can move;
- determining a set of potential routes from the first routes in the network using the route information;
- presenting the set of the potential routes to an operator of the vehicle system;
- determining whether a selection of a selected route of the potential routes is received from the operator;
- and
- responsive to not receiving the selection of the selected route, automatically changing movement of the vehicle system.
A vehicle control system comprising:
- a vehicle controller configured to be onboard a vehicle system, the vehicle controller configured to obtain a route data file for a network of first routes that the vehicle system is headed toward from an off-board component,
- the vehicle controller configured to determine a set of potential routes from the first routes in the network using the route data file, present the set of the potential routes to an operator of the vehicle system, determine whether a selection of a selected route of the potential routes is received from the operator, and automatically change movement of the vehicle system responsive to not receiving the selection of the selected route.
A method comprising:
- determining a set of potential routes in a positive train control (PTC) system network of routes using a current location of a vehicle system;
- presenting the set of the potential routes to an operator of the vehicle system;
- determining whether a selection of a selected route of the potential routes is received from the operator;
- and
- responsive to not receiving the selection of the selected route, automatically slowing or stopping movement of the vehicle system.
