Abstract
The present invention provides a metal carbonitride comprising: i) a first metal, M1; and ii) a second metal, M2; wherein M1 is titanium, zirconium or hafnium; and M2 is vanadium, niobium, tantalum, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, iron, ruthenium or osmium.
Claims14
A catalyst material comprising an electrocatalyst supported on a catalyst support material, wherein the catalyst support material comprises a metal carbonitride comprising:
- (i) a first metal, M1;
- and
- (ii) a second metal, M2,
- wherein M1 is titanium, zirconium, or hafnium, and M2 is vanadium, niobium, tantalum, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, iron, ruthenium, or osmium, and,
- wherein the metal carbonitride has a composition represented as M2xM11-xC1-pNp, wherein x is 0.05 to 0.95 and p is 0.1 to 0.7.
A catalyst material comprising an electrocatalyst supported on a catalyst support material comprising nanoparticles, wherein the nanoparticles comprise a metal carbonitride comprising:
- (i) a first metal, M1;
- and
- (ii) a second metal, M2,
- wherein M1 is titanium, zirconium, or hafnium, and M2 is vanadium, niobium, tantalum, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, iron, ruthenium, or osmium, and,
- wherein the metal carbonitride has a composition represented as:
- M2xM11-xC1-pNp, wherein x is 0.05 to 0.95 and p is 0.1 to 0.7.
