Abstract
A system includes a plurality of photovoltaic shingles and a plurality of roofing shingles installed on a roof deck. Each of the roofing shingles includes a headlap portion and a nail zone on the headlap portion. The nail zone includes at least one nail receiving portion, and at least one opening defining a perimeter of at least a portion of the at least one nail receiving portion. Each of the roofing shingles is installed on the roof deck by at least one fastener, which extends through the at least one nail receiving portion.
Claims20
A system, comprising:
- a plurality of photovoltaic shingles installed on a roof deck;
- and
- a plurality of roofing shingles installed on the roof deck proximate the plurality of photovoltaic shingles,
- wherein each of the plurality of roofing shingles includes
- a headlap portion,
- wherein the headlap portion includes an upper surface and a lower surface opposite the upper surface, and
- a nail zone on the headlap portion,
- wherein the nail zone includes
- at least one nail receiving portion, and
- at least one opening defining a perimeter of at least a portion of the at least one nail receiving portion,
- wherein the at least one opening extends from the upper surface to the lower surface,
- wherein each of the plurality of roofing shingles is installed on the roof deck by at least one fastener, and
- wherein the at least one fastener extends through the at least one nail receiving portion.
A system, comprising:
- a plurality of photovoltaic shingles installed on a roof deck;
- and
- a plurality of roofing shingles installed on the roof deck proximate the plurality of photovoltaic shingles,
- wherein each of the plurality of roofing shingles includes
- a headlap portion,
- wherein the headlap portion includes an upper surface and a lower surface opposite the upper surface, and
- a plurality of ribs on the headlap portion, and
- a nail zone on the headlap portion proximate to the plurality of ribs,
- wherein the nail zone includes
- at least one nail receiving portion, and
- at least one opening defining a perimeter of at least a portion of the at least one nail receiving portion,
- wherein the at least one opening extends from the upper surface to the lower surface,
- wherein each of the plurality of roofing shingles is installed on the roof deck by at least one fastener, and
- wherein the at least one fastener extends through the at least one nail receiving portion.
A system, comprising:
- a plurality of photovoltaic shingles installed on a roof deck;
- and
- a plurality of roofing shingles installed on the roof deck proximate the plurality of photovoltaic shingles,
- wherein each of the plurality of roofing shingles includes
- an upper surface and a lower surface,
- a headlap portion, and
- a nail zone on the headlap portion,
- wherein the nail zone includes
- at least one nail receiving portion,
- at least one opening defining at least a first portion of a perimeter of at least a first portion of the at least one nail receiving portion,
- wherein the at least one opening extends from the upper surface to the lower surface, and
- at least one embossed portion within the upper surface defining at least a second portion of the perimeter of at least a second portion of the at least one nail receiving portion,
- wherein each of the plurality of roofing shingles is installed on the roof deck by at least one fastener, and
- wherein the at least one fastener extends through the at least one nail receiving portion.
