Stabilizer including modified helical wellbore stabilizing elements

A well system, comprising:

• a wellbore;
• a downhole conveyance located within the wellbore;
• and
• a stabilizer coupled to the downhole conveyance, the stabilizer including:
• a downhole component coupled to the downhole conveyance in the wellbore;
• and
• two or more helical wellbore stabilizing elements extending radially outward from
• the downhole component and defining two or more flow paths having two or more flow path axes parallel with an axis of rotation of the downhole component, the two or more helical wellbore stabilizing elements shaped such that an annular flow area between leading edges of adjacent helical wellbore stabilizing elements and between trailing edges of the adjacent helical wellbore stabilizing elements is variable along at least a portion of a length (L) of the two or more helical wellbore stabilizing elements, and further wherein a first annular flow area at the leading edges of the adjacent helical wellbore stabilizing elements and a second annular flow area at the trailing edges of the adjacent helical wellbore stabilizing elements are greater than a third annular flow area at middle of the adjacent helical wellbore stabilizing elements, and such the two or more flow path axes are unobstructed along an entire portion of the length (L).
