Abstract
Novel salicylamine derivatives are targeted directly to the mitochondria to increase effectiveness and lower required dosages in the treatment of conditions caused by inflammation or oxidative stress.

A compound of Formula I:
- wherein:
- R1 is hydrogen;
- R2 is alkyl, substituted with R4;
- R3 is selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, alkoxy, C1-C6 alkyl or C1-C6 alkyl substituted with alkyl, alkenyl, hydroxy, acyl, or alkoxy, or carbonyl;
- R4 is triphenylphosphonium with a counterion;
- and
- n is 1 or 2, wherein when n is 2, R1 has a counterion.
