Abstract
The present invention relates to a tracheal coupling comprising a patient port 33, an outlet port 36, an inlet port 31 between the patient port and the outlet port, such that flow 34 from the inlet port can go to the patient port or direct to the outlet port, and a flow restriction e.g. 32 between the inlet port and the outlet port, or at the outlet port.
Claims24
A tracheal connector for interfacing between a patient and a gases flow source, comprising:
- a patient port;
- an outlet end comprising a flow restrictor;
- an inlet port fluidly coupled to the gases flow source and configured to receive a flow of gases from the gases flow source;
- wherein the flow restrictor restricts expiratory flow is configured to produce PEEP of at least 1 cmH2O when flow is 50 liters per minute;
- wherein the patient port and the outlet end are coaxial;
- and
- wherein the inlet port is disposed at an angle that forms an obtuse angle with the patient port.

A tracheal connector, comprising:
- a patient port;
- an outlet end comprising a flow restrictor, wherein the patient port and the outlet end are coaxial;
- an inlet port fluidly coupled to a gases flow source and configured to receive a flow of gases, wherein the inlet port is disposed at an angle that forms an obtuse angle with the patient port;
- wherein the flow of gases can be delivered to the patient port;
- and
- wherein the flow of gases can be delivered directly to the outlet end.
