Abstract
Systems and methods for a transmission. The transmission system operating method includes, in one example, re-estimating a time for each phase of an alternate gear shift in response to determining one or more conditions that are indicative of an operator's intent to implement the alternate gear shift. The method further includes performing one or more gear change phases that reduce a duration to implement the alternate gear shift based on the re-estimated time for each phase of the alternate gear shift.
Claims20
A method for operation of a transmission system, comprising:
- re-estimating a time for each phase of an alternate gear shift in response to determining one or more conditions that are indicative of an operator's intent to implement the alternate gear shift;
- and
- performing one or more gear change phases that reduce a duration to implement the alternate gear shift based on the re-estimated time for each phase of the alternate gear shift.
A transmission system, comprising:
- multiple clutches configured to shift between discrete gears;
- a controller including instructions that when executed cause the controller to:
- re-estimate a time for each phase of an alternate gear shift in response to determining one or more conditions that are indicative of an operator's intent to implement the alternate gear shift;
- and
- perform one or more gear change phases that reduce a duration to implement the alternate gear shift.
A method for operation of a transmission system in an electric powertrain, comprising:
- estimating a time for each phase of an initial gear shift in response to determining one or more conditions that are indicative of an operator's intent to implement the initial gear shift;
- re-estimating a time for each phase of an alternate gear shift in response to determining one or more conditions that are indicative of an operator's intent to implement the alternate gear shift;
- and
- performing one or more gear change phases that reduce a duration to implement the alternate gear shift based on a comparison between the estimated time and the re-estimated time.
