Abstract
A moisture barrier system, comprising a barrier sheet adapted to be installed on a building having an interior wall structure and an exterior wall structure spaced apart from the interior wall structure to define a cavity there between.
Claims20
A moisture barrier system adapted to be installed on a building having an interior wall and an exterior wall spaced apart from the interior wall to define a cavity there between, the moisture barrier system comprising:
- a barrier sheet including an interior reinforcement mesh and an outer polymeric layer and configured to span the cavity, and
- a joint support extending between and interconnecting the interior wall and the exterior wall and arranged to lie beneath the barrier sheet and configured to support the barrier sheet, the joint support including an upper strip having a proximal end and a distal, free end, a lower strip having a proximal end and a distal, free end, and a sloped strip having a first end coupled to the proximal end of the upper strip and a second end coupled to the proximal end of the lower strip such that the upper strip extends in an upward direction away from the sloped strip and the lower strip, and the lower strip extends in an outward direction away from the upper strip and the sloped strip,
- wherein the joint support has a constant thickness through the upper strip, the lower strip, and the sloped strip.
A moisture barrier system adapted to be installed on a building having an interior wall and an exterior wall spaced apart from the interior wall to define a cavity there between, the moisture barrier system comprising:
- a barrier sheet arranged to extend between the interior wall and the exterior wall and arranged to lie in the cavity to block moisture from passing the barrier sheet in the cavity, the barrier sheet comprising an interior reinforcement mesh and an outer polymeric layer, and
- a corner unit configured to attach to the interior wall and the exterior wall and underlie the barrier sheet to support the barrier sheet around a corner of the building,
- wherein the corner unit includes an upper strip adapted to engage the interior wall, a lower strip adapted to engage the exterior wall, and a sloped strip located between the upper strip and the lower strip, and
- wherein the sloped strip includes a first end and an opposite section end, the upper strip is coupled to the first end of the sloped strip and is arranged to extend in a first direction away from the sloped strip and the lower strip, and the lower strip is coupled to the second end of the sloped strip and is arranged to extend in a second direction different than the first direction and away from the sloped strip and the upper strip,
- wherein the corner unit has a constant thickness through the upper strip, the lower strip, and the sloped strip.
A moisture barrier system adapted to be installed on a building having an interior wall and an exterior wall spaced apart from the interior wall to define a cavity there between, the moisture barrier system comprising:
- a first barrier sheet including an interior reinforcement mesh and an outer polymeric layer,
- a second barrier sheet at least partially overlapping the first barrier sheet and including a second interior reinforcement mesh and a second outer polymeric layer, wherein the first end second barrier sheets overlap one another at an overlapping end of the first and second barrier sheets,
- a joint support extending between and interconnecting the interior wall and the exterior wall and arranged to underlie the overlapping end of the first and second barrier sheets, the joint support including an upper strip, a lower strip spaced apart from the upper strip, and a medial strip between the upper strip and the lower strip, the medial strip including a sloped strip arranged to lie at an angle to the upper strip and the lower strip, and
- a corner support extending between and interconnecting the interior wall and the exterior wall at a corner of the building and arranged to underlie one of the first and second barrier sheets, the corner support including an upper strip, a lower strip spaced apart from the upper strip, and a medial strip between the upper strip and the lower strip, the medial strip including a sloped strip arranged to lie at an angle to the upper strip and the lower strip,
- wherein the upper strips of the joint support and the corner support have a first width, the lower strips of the joint support and the corner support have a second width, and the medial strips of the joint support and the corner support have a third width, the third width being greater than the first and second widths, and
- wherein the first and second barrier sheets have a width that is equal to a cumulative width of the first width, the second width, and the third width.
