A shovel comprising:
- a lower traveling structure;
- an upper swing structure swingably mounted on the lower traveling structure;
- a first hydraulic pump provided on the upper swing structure;
- an attachment attached to the upper swing structure;
- a first actuator;
- a second actuator;
- a first directional control valve corresponding to the first actuator, the first directional control valve being configured to switch a flow of hydraulic oil to supply hydraulic oil discharged by the first hydraulic pump to the first actuator and to discharge hydraulic oil discharged by the first actuator to a hydraulic oil tank;
- a second directional control valve corresponding to the second actuator, the second directional control valve being configured to switch a flow of hydraulic oil to supply the hydraulic oil discharged by the first hydraulic pump to the second actuator and to discharge hydraulic oil in the second actuator to the hydraulic oil tank;
- a first conduit connecting the first hydraulic pump and the first directional control valve;
- a second conduit connecting the first conduit and the second directional control valve;
- a control valve installed in the second conduit and configured to adjust a flow area of the second conduit;
- and
- processing circuitry configured to adopt a transition pattern from among a plurality of transition patterns that represent correspondence between an amount of operation for the first actuator and an opening area of the control valve according to information on work details and to control the opening area of the control valve according to the adopted transition pattern,
- wherein the processing circuitry is configured to determine whether a discharge pressure of the first hydraulic pump is more than or equal to a predetermined threshold, and to adopt a first transition pattern from among the plurality of transition patterns in response to determining that the discharge pressure of the first hydraulic pump is more than or equal to the predetermined threshold, and adopt a second transition pattern from among the plurality of transition patterns in response to determining that the discharge pressure of the first hydraulic pump is less than the predetermined threshold,
- a change in the opening area of the control valve relative to a change in the amount of operation for the first actuator is greater in the first transition pattern than in the second transition pattern,
- according to the first transition pattern, the opening area of the control valve is a reference value when a value indicating the amount of operation for the first actuator is less than a first value, decreases from the reference value to a first set value as the value indicating the amount of operation for the first actuator increases when the value indicating the mount of operation for the first actuator is more than or equal to the first value and less than a second value, and is the first set value when the value indicating the amount of operation for the first actuator is more than or equal to the second value, the reference value corresponding to the opening area of the control valve when no operation is performed for the first actuator, and
- according to the second transition pattern, the opening area of the control valve is the reference value when the value indicating the amount of operation for the first actuator is less than a third value, decreases from the reference value to a second set value as the value indicating the amount of operation for the first actuator increases when the value indicating the amount of operation for the first actuator is more than or equal to the third value and less than the second value, and is the second set value when the value indicating the amount of operation for the first actuator is more than or equal to the second value, the third value being greater than the first value and smaller than the second value, the second set value being greater than the first set value.
