Abstract
A wireless active suspension system is disclosed. The system includes at least one sensor mounted to an unsprung mass of a vehicle, the sensor having a low power wireless communication capability, the at least one sensor to send a sensor data transmission. The system also includes a controller in wireless communication with the at least one sensor, wherein the controller receives the sensor data from the at least one sensor and communicates an adjustment command to modify at least one damping characteristic of at least one damper.
Claims21
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having stored thereon, computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a controller of a wireless active suspension system, cause said controller to perform a method for controlling said wireless active suspension system, said method comprising:
- establishing wireless communication with a radio of said at least one sensor;
- provided said at least one sensor detects an event exceeding a threshold value, receiving a first above threshold message from said at least one sensor, transmitting an acknowledgement message back to said at least one sensor, and communicating a first adjustment command to said wireless active suspension system to modify at least one characteristic of said wireless active suspension system;
- and
- provided a pre-determined period of time has lapsed after receiving a most recent above threshold message from said at least one sensor, and provided a threshold message subsequent to said most recent above threshold message has not been received, communicating a second adjustment command to said wireless active suspension system to modify at least one characteristic of said wireless active suspension system.
