Abstract
An external ear canal pressure regulation device including a fluid flow generator and an earpiece having a first axial earpiece conduit fluidicly coupled to the fluid flow generator, whereby the earpiece has a compliant earpiece external surface configured to sealably engage an external ear canal as a barrier between an external ear canal pressure and an ambient pressure.
Claims68
A method for treatment of a symptom of a neurological disorder, the method comprising:
- providing an earpiece that is configured to engage a first external ear canal of a first ear of a user;
- configuring a fluid flow generator to generate a second fluid flow between the earpiece and the first external ear canal based on an effect on the symptom of the neurological disorder from a first fluid flow to either the first external ear canal or a second external ear canal of a second ear of the user, the first fluid flow being prior to generation of the second fluid flow;
- and
- using the fluid flow generator to generate the second fluid flow between the earpiece and the first external ear canal.
An external ear canal pressure system, comprising:
- an earpiece being configured to engage a first external ear canal of a first ear of a user;
- a fluid flow generator that is configured to generate a fluid flow between the earpiece and the first external ear canal to adjust a pressure in the first external ear canal;
- a controller configured to operate the fluid flow generator to:
- produce a first pressure differential in the first external ear canal;
- and
- produce a second pressure differential in the first external ear canal or a second external ear canal of a second ear of the user;
- and
- a user interface that includes a symptom ranking element that enables the user to enter a first symptom rank value for a symptom of a neurological disorder prior to the first pressure differential and to enter a second symptom rank value for the symptom of the neurological disorder subsequent to the first pressure differential;
- wherein the second pressure differential is based at least in part on an effect of the first pressure differential on the symptom of the neurological disorder.
A fluid transfer system for treatment of a symptom of a neurological disorder, the fluid transfer system comprising:
- a fluid flow generator that is configured to generate a first fluid flow and a second fluid flow, the first fluid flow being between an earpiece and an external ear canal, and the second fluid flow being between the earpiece and the external ear canal and based on an effect on the symptom of the neurological disorder of the first fluid flow;
- and
- a graphical user interface that is configured to receive a user input of a first symptom rank value for the symptom of the neurological disorder prior to generation of the first fluid flow and to receive user input of a second symptom rank value for the symptom of the neurological disorder subsequent to generation of the first fluid flow.
