Abstract
Disclosed herein is a monitoring system for deriving a measurement of a separation distance between a monitor and one or more tags, where each tag is adapted to be attached to or contained within an object to be monitored, the system including a monitor that is operable to trigger an event if the separation distance exceeds a set separation limit. A frequency of packet exchange between a tag and monitor is dynamically altered based on a comparison of one or more monitored parameters with a mode transition threshold.
Claims24
A monitoring system for a plurality of user devices, comprising:
- the plurality of user devices comprising:
- at least one monitor comprising a first radio transmitter and/or a first radio receiver, the at least one monitor adapted to perform one or more interrupt events, the one or more interrupt events comprising a plurality of alert events;
- and
- at least one tag adapted for attachment to, or containment within, an object to be monitored, the at least one tag comprising a second radio transmitter and/or a second radio receiver, the at least one tag adapted to perform or respond to the one or more interrupt events such that the at least one monitor can derive a proximity status between the at least one tag and the at least one monitor,
- wherein the at least one monitor and the at least one tag further comprise computer-executable instructions that allow the at least one monitor and the at least one tag to remain in communication with each other with a minimized power consumption with responsiveness,
- wherein the minimized power consumption with the responsiveness is achieved via the one or more interrupt events to trigger alerts in the plurality of alert events,
- wherein the one or more interrupt events are periodic, scheduled, event-driven, or user-generated,
- wherein the at least one monitor triggers a locking event on a paired electronic device when the proximity status exceeds a pre-determined condition, distance, or trigger threshold, thereby preventing unauthorized user access to the paired electronic device.
A monitoring system for user devices, comprising:
- at least one monitor comprising a first radio transmitter and/or a first radio receiver, the at least one monitor adapted to perform one or more interrupt events, the one or more interrupt events comprising a plurality of alert events;
- and
- at least one tag adapted for attachment to, or containment within, an object to be monitored, the at least one tag comprising a second radio transmitter and/or a second radio receiver, the at least one tag adapted to perform or respond to the one or more interrupt events such that the at least one monitor can derive a proximity status between the at least one tag and the at least one monitor,
- wherein the at least one monitor and the at least one tag further comprise computer-executable instructions that allow the at least one monitor and the at least one tag to remain in communication with each other with a minimized power consumption,
- wherein the minimized power consumption is achieved via periodic, scheduled, or user-generated of the one or more interrupt events to trigger alerts in the plurality of alert events,
- wherein at least one alert in the plurality of alert events communicates details regarding a triggering of an event in the one or more interrupt events,
- wherein each of (i) the first radio transmitter and/or the first radio receiver and (ii) the second radio transmitter and/or the second radio receiver is configured to operate as a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) device that is interoperable with one or more unmodified BLE devices, and
- wherein the at least one monitor triggers a locking event on a paired electronic device when the proximity status exceeds a pre-determined condition, distance, or trigger threshold, thereby preventing unauthorized user access to the paired electronic device.
A monitoring system for user devices, comprising:
- at least one monitor comprising a first radio transmitter and/or a first radio receiver, the at least one monitor adapted to perform one or more interrupt events, the one or more interrupt events comprising a plurality of alert events;
- at least one tag adapted for attachment to, or containment within, an object to be monitored, the at least one tag comprising a second radio transmitter and/or a second radio receiver, the at least one tag adapted to perform or respond to the one or more interrupt events such that the at least one monitor can derive a proximity status between the at least one tag and the at least one monitor;
- and
- a secondary device configured to be paired with the at least one monitor and/or the at least one tag,
- wherein the at least one monitor and the at least one tag further comprise computer-executable instructions that allow the at least one monitor and the at least one tag to remain in communication with each other with a minimized power consumption,
- wherein the minimized power consumption is achieved via algorithmically optimized communication intervals based on connection parameters that depend on one or more operating configurations of the monitoring system, the connection parameters comprising (i) the proximity status, (ii) stored usage history, and (iii) periodic, scheduled, or user-generated of the one or more interrupt events to trigger alerts in the plurality of alert events,
- wherein the at least one tag is attachable to a person or the object, and
- wherein the at least one monitor triggers a locking event on the paired secondary device when the proximity status exceeds a pre-determined condition, distance, or trigger threshold, thereby preventing unauthorized user access to the paired secondary device.
