Zoom agnostic watermark extraction

A system comprising:

• a data storage device;
• a watermark decoder, including one or more processors, configured to perform operations comprising:
• receiving, by a watermark decoder including one or more processors, an input image;
• applying, by the watermark decoder and to the input image, a decoder machine learning model trained to decode visually imperceptible watermarks at different levels of zoom;
• determining, by the watermark decoder, whether a visually imperceptible watermark was decoded through application of the decoder machine learning model to the input image to obtain a decoded watermark;
• and
• outputting a result based on the determination whether the visually imperceptible watermark was decoded through application of the decoder machine learning model to the input image, including outputting a zoomed output in response to determining that the visually imperceptible watermark was decoded through application of the decoder machine learning model to the input image.

A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more data processing apparatus, cause the one or more data processing apparatus to perform operations comprising:

• receiving, by a watermark decoder including one or more processors, an input image;
• applying, by the watermark decoder and to the input image, a decoder machine learning model trained to decode visually imperceptible watermarks at different levels of zoom;
• determining, by the watermark decoder, whether a visually imperceptible watermark was decoded through application of the decoder machine learning model to the input image to obtain a decoded watermark;
• and
• outputting a result based on the determination whether the visually imperceptible watermark was decoded through application of the decoder machine learning model to the input image, including outputting a zoomed output in response to determining that the visually imperceptible watermark was decoded through application of the decoder machine learning model to the input image.
