A method for a scanner that supports a setting for TLS (Transport Layer Security) of a communication via a network, the method comprising,

• receiving a request according to a predetermined protocol from an information processing apparatus, wherein the information processing apparatus executes a program that uses the predetermined protocol;
• and
• transmitting, in response to the request, a response,
• wherein the response indicating that a predetermined function is possible is transmitted to the information processing apparatus, in a case where the setting for TLS of the scanner is enabled, and
• wherein the response not indicating that the predetermined function is possible is transmitted to the information processing apparatus, in a case where the setting for TLS of the scanner is disabled,
• wherein the predetermined function is a function that requires transmission of credential data from the information processing apparatus to the scanner via the network.

An image processing apparatus that supports a setting for TLS (Transport Layer Security) of a communication via a network, the image processing apparatus comprising:

• a printing device;
• a scanner;
• at least one memory storing instructions, and
• at least one processor executing the instructions causing the image processing apparatus to:
• receive a request according to a predetermined protocol from an information processing apparatus, wherein the information processing apparatus executes a program that uses the predetermined protocol;
• and
• transmit, in response to the request, a response,
• wherein the response indicating that a predetermined function is possible is transmitted to the information processing apparatus, in a case where the setting for TLS of the image processing apparatus is enabled, and
• wherein the response not indicating that the predetermined function is possible is transmitted to the information processing apparatus, in a case where the setting for TLS of the image processing apparatus is disabled, and
• wherein the predetermined function is a function that requires transmission of credential data from the information processing apparatus to the image processing apparatus via the network.
