Abstract
Compositions comprising a poly(aryl ether ketone) (PAEK) having a carbon-based nanomaterial dispersed therein, wherein the composition includes at least 1 weight percent carbon-based nanomaterial based on the total weight of the composition, products that include the compositions, and methods for making the compositions and products.
Claims14
A polymer/carbon nanotube nanohybrid, comprising a poly(ether ether ketone) and a multi-walled carbon nanotube,
- wherein the nanohybrid includes about 20 weight percent multi-walled carbon nanotube based on the total weight of the nanohybrid,
- wherein the multi-walled carbon nanotube has a long axis and a circumference, and
- wherein the poly(ether ether ketone) is crystalline and forms a plurality of bands disposed around the circumference of the multi-walled carbon nanotube thereby forming ring-like crystalline polymer structures along the long axis of the multi-walled carbon nanotube.
