Methods of energy generation from a Thorium molten salt system

A method comprising the steps of:

• directing protons from a proton beam through a lid of a molten salt assembly comprising the lid, a main body, Thorium-containing molten salt within the main body, and a Thorium fuel rod assembly within the Thorium-containing molten salt,
• wherein the Thorium fuel rod assembly comprises:
• at least four Thorium fuel rods are a distance from a Beryllium fuel rod,
• wherein the at least four Thorium fuel rods and the Beryllium fuel rod are within the Thorium fuel rod assembly,
• wherein protons from the beam passes through the lid into the molten salt and into the Beryllium fuel rod within the Thorium fuel rod assembly within the molten salt within the main body to induce (p, n) reactions between protons forming the proton beam and at least one material within the molten salt, wherein the induced (p, n) reactions result in the production of at least some neutrons having an energy level of at least 0.7 MeV and wherein:
• at least some of the produced neutrons interact with Thorium-232 atoms within the at least four Thorium fuel rods surrounding the Beryllium fuel rod to produce Thorium-233 atoms;
• at least some of the produced neutrons interact with Thorium-232 atoms within the molten salt to produce Thorium-233 atoms;
• at least some of the Thorium-233 atoms will decay into Protactinium-233 atoms;
• at least some of Protactinium-233 atoms will decay into Uranium-233 atoms;
• at least some of the produced neutrons interact with Uranium-233 atoms within the molten salt to fission the Uranium-233 atoms;
• and
• the fissioning of the Uranium-233 atoms produces heat.
