Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus comprising:

• an image bearing member which is rotatable;
• a charging member which is rotatable and charges the image bearing member;
• a development member which is rotatable and supplies a developer to a surface of the image bearing member;
• a developer accommodating portion which accommodates therein a developer supplied to the development member;
• a first acquiring portion which acquires developer amount information related to an amount of a developer accommodated in the developer accommodating portion;
• a second acquiring portion which acquires development drive information related to a movement distance on a surface of the development member;
• and
• a control portion which is capable of performing a first mode and a second mode, whose frequency of driving the development member is lower than the first mode, as an image forming mode, the control portion proposing or deciding on a change of the image forming mode from the first mode to the second mode on the basis of the developer amount information and the development drive information.
