Abstract
A coated article includes a substrate, and a coating disposed on a surface of the substrate. The coating comprises a transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD). A method of forming a coating includes dispersing a transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) and optionally tungsten carbide in a solvent to form a mixture, spraying the mixture on a surface of a substrate, evaporating the solvent, and forming a coating on the substrate comprising the TMD.
Claims18
A coated article comprising:
- a substrate, wherein the substrate comprises a metal;
- a coating disposed on a surface of the substrate, wherein the coating comprises a transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD);
- and
- a hydrocarbon in contact with the coating, wherein a portion of the coating not in direct contact with the surface is completely immersed in the hydrocarbon,
- wherein a thickness of the coating on the surface is between about 10 μm to about 15 μm.
A method of forming a coating, the method comprising:
- dispersing a transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) in a solvent to form a mixture;
- spraying the mixture on a surface of a substrate, wherein the substrate comprises a metal;
- evaporating the solvent;
- forming a coating on the substrate comprising the TMD;
- and
- contacting the coating with a hydrocarbon,
- wherein a thickness of the coating on the surface is between about 10 μm to about 15 μm.
