Abstract
A green synthetic method for making a pyrrole. The method includes reacting an aryl amine with a compound having a furan moiety in the presence of an organic catalyst that contains juice.
Claims14
A green method of forming an N-substituted pyrrole using an organic catalyst, comprising:
- reacting an amine of formula (2) with a compound of formula (3) in the presence of the organic catalyst,
- wherein the organic catalyst consists of juice from a fruit of a plant in the genus Malus,
- wherein the reacting includes mixing in a biphasic medium to form a compound of formula (1)
- wherein R1 and R2 are each independently a hydrogen, an optionally substituted alkyl, an optionally substituted cycloalkyl, an optionally substituted arylalkyl, or an optionally substituted aryl;
- and
- wherein R3 is an optionally substituted aryl.
