Device for facilitating needle injection

A system including a safety pen and a device configured to aid in insertion of a needle of the safety pen, the device comprising:

• a housing including
• a mounting surface configured to contact a skin surface;
• a top surface disposed opposite of the mounting surface, the top surface being a top most surface of the device and the top surface comprises an external surface of the device, and
• a hole configured to receive the safety pen, a full depth of the hole being tapered, the hole extending directly from the top surface to the mounting surface;
• wherein
• the hole is configured to allow the safety pen to bottom out in the hole to position the safety pen for the insertion of the needle of the safety pen;
• and
• the safety pen comprises a safety mechanism cooperating with the needle of the safety pen, the safety mechanism includes a retractable shield, the retractable shield configured to surround the needle of the safety pen prior to the insertion of the needle of the safety pen, the retractable shield configured to contact the skin surface to retract the retractable shield, the safety mechanism is configured to shield the needle of the safety pen after use and lock the retractable shield to prevent reuse of the needle of the safety pen.
