Abstract
A ventilation member includes a base panel for mounting onto a substrate, an upper panel extending transversely from the base panel, a lower panel spaced apart from the upper panel, and an inner panel extending transversely from the lower panel. A passageway is defined having a first portion defined between the base panel and the inner panel and a second portion extending transversely from the first portion and being defined between the upper and the lower panel. When used as part of a system, the ventilation member may be an upper ventilation member and the system may include a second lower ventilation member including a base panel and a leg extending transversely thereof.
Claims45
A ventilation member comprising:
- a base panel for mounting onto a substrate;
- an upper panel extending transversely from the base panel;
- a lower panel spaced apart from the upper panel and below the upper panel;
- and
- an inner panel extending transversely from the lower panel, wherein a passageway is defined having a first portion defined between the base panel and the inner panel and a second portion extending transversely from the first portion and defined between the upper and the lower panels.
A structure venting system comprising:
- a substrate being part of said structure;
- a first ventilation member comprising,
- a base panel mounted to said substrate,
- an upper panel extending transversely from the base panel,
- a lower panel spaced apart from the upper panel, and
- an inner panel extending transversely from the lower panel, wherein a passageway is defined having a first portion defined between the base panel and the inner panel and a second portion extending transversely from the first portion and defined between the upper and the lower panel;
- a water resistive barrier layer adjacent said base panel;
- and
- a drainage mat over said substrate and water resistive barrier layer and extending into the passageway first portion, wherein moisture in the drainage mat can vent through the passageway.
A ventilation member comprising:
- a base panel for mounting onto a substrate;
- an upper panel extending transversely from the base panel;
- a lower panel spaced apart from the upper panel and below the upper panel;
- and
- an inner panel extending transversely from the lower panel, wherein a passageway is defined having a first portion defined between the base panel and the inner panel and a second portion extending transversely from the first portion and defined between the upper and the lower panels
- wherein a vent opening is formed through a distal portion of the lower panel for venting said passageway.
The ventilation member 39, wherein the ventilation member further comprises a vertical panel extending from a distal end of the upper panel toward the lower panel defining a gap between a distal end of said vertical panel and a distal end of the lower panel for venting.
