Abstract
A sole portion for an item of footwear having a plurality of cleat systems, cleats, or plate structures that dissipate force by deflecting, deforming, displacing or otherwise shifting under selected force, or by facilitating cleat movement around a radial line during ground engagement.
Claims12
A sole portion of a shoe, comprising:
- a plurality of cleat systems disposed on a sole plate comprising an upper plate and a lower plate that are operationally interconnected by an intermediate elastomeric pad comprising a generally planar, each cleat system comprising a cleat disposed on the lower plate, each cleat having a head portion for engaging a ground surface and a base portion that is disposed on the lower plate, the lower and upper plates being arranged in non-overlapping, generally parallel planes;
- and
- wherein under a lateral load the elastomeric pad shifts to a transverse orientation and the upper plate, along with an associated foot compartment, rotationally shifts around a pivot point.
