Abstract
A razor wire rapid deployment unit (RDU)/barrier is disclosed. In some embodiments, the RDU includes an enclosure having a first section coupleable with a second section, the enclosure defining an interior area therein. The RDU may further include a razor wire disposed within the interior area of the enclosure, a first end of the razor wire directly coupled to the first section, and a second end of the razor wire directly coupled to the second section. The first and second sides of the enclosure may be separated from one another to deploy the razor wire from a compressed configuration to an expanded configuration.
Claims14
A razor wire rapid deployment unit (RDU), comprising:
- an enclosure having a first section coupleable with a second section;
- a razor wire, wherein a first end of the razor wire is coupled to the first section, and wherein a second end of the razor wire is coupled to the second section,
- wherein the first and second sections of the enclosure are separable from one another to bias the razor wire between a compressed configuration and an expanded configuration, and wherein the second section of the enclosure comprises an anchor component for securing the second section to a ground surface;
- and
- a wire support extending into an interior area of the enclosure, wherein the wire support is operable to retain the razor wire, and wherein the wire support comprises:
- a base coupled to the first section;
- and
- a free end extending from the base, wherein an upper surface of the free end extends at an angle away from the ground surface as it extends away from the first section, and wherein the free end terminates within the interior area of the enclosure when the first and second sections are in the compressed configuration.
An assembly, comprising:
- an enclosure having a first section detachably coupled to a second section;
- a concertina razor wire housed within an interior area of the enclosure, wherein a first end of the concertina razor wire is directly coupled to the first section, wherein a second end of the concertina razor wire is directly coupled to the second section, wherein the second section of the enclosure comprises an anchor component coupled to a panel of the second section for securing the second section to a ground surface, wherein the anchor component is rotatably coupled to the second section;
- and
- a wire support extending into the interior area of the enclosure, wherein the wire support is operable to retain the razor wire, and wherein the wire support comprises:
- a base coupled to the first section;
- and
- a free end extending from the base, wherein an upper surface of the free end extends at an angle away from the ground surface as it extends away from the first section, and wherein the free end terminates within the interior area of the enclosure when the first and second sections are in a compressed configuration.
A method of deploying a razor wire, comprising:
- providing an enclosure having a first section coupleable with a second section;
- housing the razor wire within an interior area of the enclosure, wherein a first end of the razor wire is directly coupled to the first section, and wherein a second end of the razor wire is directly coupled to the second section;
- and
- retaining the razor wire on a wire support when the first section and the second section are coupled together, wherein the wire support extends into the interior area of the enclosure, and wherein the wire support comprises:
- a base coupled to the first section;
- and
- a free end extending from the base, wherein an upper surface of the free end extends at an angle away from the ground surface as it extends away from the first section, and wherein the free end terminates within the interior area of the enclosure when the first and second sections are coupled together.
