Abstract
The present invention relates to novel esterases, more particularly to esterase variants having improved activity and/or improved thermostability compared to the esterase of SEQ ID NO: 1 and the uses thereof for degrading polyester containing material, such as plastic products. The esterases of the invention are particularly suited to degrade polyethylene terephthalate, and material containing polyethylene terephthalate.
Claims15
An esterase, (i) having at least 90% identity compared to the esterase having the full length amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 1, (ii) comprising at least the combination of substitutions N207C+S256C, (iii) having an increased degrading activity and/or an increased thermostability as compared to the esterase of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, and (iv) comprising the combination of amino acid residues S134+D180+H211 and the combination of amino acid residues C247+C263+C177+C213 as in the esterase having the full length amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 1.
