Abstract
The present invention relates to a hormone replacement therapy, to the associated compounds and to the associated packaging units, for alleviating menopause-associated symptoms which is based on the administration to a female mammal of an estetrol component at specified daily doses, optionally in combination with a progestogenic component. The therapy enjoys a statistically significant efficacy combined with a favourable profile for side effects compared to currently available methods for alleviating menopause-associated symptoms.

A method of hormone replacement therapy, comprising administering daily to a post-menopausal female subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising 15-25 mg of estetrol, wherein the administration of 15-25 mg of estetrol does not increase the subject's risk of a severe adverse event relative to daily administration of 10 mg of estetrol.
A method of providing hormone replacement therapy without increasing a subject's risk of treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs), comprising administering daily to a post-menopausal female subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising 15-25 mg of estetrol, wherein the treated subject's risk of developing a TEAE is not significantly higher than that of an individual being treated with a daily administration of 10 mg of estetrol.
