Abstract
Compositions including a complex of fatty acids (e.g., including one or more C4 to C40 fatty acids, such as a C4 to C20 fatty acid) and one or more amino acids (and particularly one or more amino acids having electrically charged basic side chains, e.g., Arginine, Lysine, etc.) for use as an anti-pathogenic composition. These compositions may include the complex of fatty acid:amino acid having a lamellar supramolecular structure. In particular, described herein are therapeutic compositions of undecylenic acid:Arginine forming a complex of undecylenic acid and Arginine.
Claims22
A therapeutic composition comprising a complex of fatty acid:
- amino acid in a molar ratio of between 1:0.6 to 1:1.6 in an aqueous solution that is enriched so that at least 30% of the complex of fatty acid:
- amino acid has a lamellar supramolecular structure within the aqueous solution, wherein the fatty acid is undecylenic acid and the amino acid is L-arginine, and wherein the composition excludes rhein.
A therapeutic composition comprising a complex of fatty acid:
- amino acid in a molar ratio of between 1:0.6 to 1:1.6 in an aqueous solution that is enriched so that at least 30% of the complex of fatty acid:
- amino acid is part of a lamellar supramolecular structure within the aqueous solution, wherein the fatty acid is undecylenic acid and the amino acid is L-arginine, and wherein the composition excludes rhein.
A method of treating a patent to destroy a virus, the method comprising topically applying a therapeutic composition comprising a complex of fatty acid:
- amino acid in a molar ratio of between about 1:0.6 to about 1:1.6 in an aqueous solution that is enriched so that at least 30% of the complex of fatty acid:
- amino acid has a lamellar supramolecular structure within the aqueous solution, wherein the fatty acid is undecylenic acid and the amino acid is L-arginine.
A method of treating a surface to destroy a virus, the method comprising topically applying a therapeutic composition to the surface, wherein the therapeutic composition comprises a complex of fatty acid:
- amino acid in a molar ratio of between about 1:0.6 to about 1:1.6 in an aqueous solution that is enriched so that at least 30% of the complex of fatty acid:
- amino acid has a lamellar supramolecular structure within the aqueous solution, wherein the fatty acid is undecylenic acid and the amino acid is L-arginine.
